On January 23, 2013, General Secretary of Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Lamberto Zaner, currently visiting our country, met with the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Bakhodir Matlyubov.
The sides noted that cooperation between Uzbekistan and OSCE is developing in the sphere of security along with other directions while realizing multiple joint prospective projects. During the meeting, sides discussed issues on further strengthening cooperation against terrorism, extremism and criminality related with human trafficking. Also sides exchanged views on consolidating security and stability.
OSCE General Secretary also met with General Prosecutor of the Republic of Uzbekistan Rashid Kadirov. During the talks, sides noted that works led by law-enforcement bodies on human rights protection and legality give high positive results in our country. Sides also discussed issues on further strengthening cooperation in counteraction against terrorism, human trafficking, illegal drugs trafficking and other international threats.
Following, OSCE delegation met with the Speaker of Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan Dilorom Tashmuhamedov. Sides exchanged views on legislative, judge-legal reforms and activity of political parties. It was noted that reforms ongoing in all spheres of society contribute to the balanced and stable development of Uzbekistan.
OSCE General Secretary noted that Uzbekistan is the country in Central Asia closely cooperating with OSCE. "At the moment, terrorism, human and drugs trafficking arise a big threat for many world countries and requires serious counteraction. In future OSCE believes to further advance cooperation with Uzbekistan in reinforcing security, counteracting to criminality and breach of law, human trafficking" - Lamberto Zaner said.
Same day, OSCE General Secretary held meetings at various other governmental bodies and organizations.
