UNESCO Representative Office in Uzbekistan plans to continue this year collaborating with the Government of Uzbekistan on developing science, culture and education.
Executive in-charge of UNESCO Representative in Uzbekistan Krista Pikkat shared Office plans for 2013.
As a part of UN team in Uzbekistan UNESCO first of all is supporting our country to achieve Millennium Development Goals. For UN it is also important to support activity directed to human development. Krista Pikkat said that UNESCO carries out this mission through education, science, culture, information and communication. Mass media contributes to the construction and prosperity of democratic society. Via supporting handicrafts and tourism and restoration architectural monuments UNESCO contributes to the development of culture.
Krista Pikkat also said that Joint Program of fives UN agencies "Providing for life-sustaining activity of population suffered from Aral Sea crisis" will be main part of UNESCO's activity.
This year UNESCO also plans to support Uzbekistan in achieving Global Education Partnership. UNESCO works with governmental bodies on preparing plans of education sector and plans to realize these projects.
