On December 13th the president of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov receives Dmitry Kozak the deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation in Aksaray.
During the visit of D. Kozak to our country the next regular meeting of Uzbek-Russian Intergovernmental Commission for Economic Cooperation took place.
Welcoming the guest, the head of the state said that the Commission intended to address the current issues of economic relations and at the same time contribute to the creation of more favorable conditions for cooperation, the press service of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
During the talks while the visit of the President of Russia in June 2012 in Uzbekistan Islam Karimov and Vladimir Putin expressed interest in a radical diversification of trade and growth of investment cooperation. Following the talks, adopted the Declaration on Deepening the Strategic Partnership between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Russian Federation, which identifies promising areas of cooperation in the new stage.
Currently, Russia is one of the largest trade partners of Uzbekistan. Steady growth of trade between the two countries were observed. Thus, in 2011 the figure was 6.668 billion U.S. dollars, for the period from January to September of this year - 5.580 billion.
Uzbekistan and Russia had been developing investment cooperation. Today in Uzbekistan there are 858 enterprises with Russian capital, accredited representatives of 106 firms and companies of Russia.
A particularly important and largest area of economic cooperation is the oil and gas sector. In particular, the company "Lukoil" and "Gazprom" a number of large projects for the development of hydrocarbon fields in Uzbekistan.
During the talks in Tashkent, the sides exchanged views on further development of economic cooperation.
Kozak expressed sincere gratitude to the head of our state for the warm welcome and noted the interest of Russia is on consistently deepening relations with Uzbekistan in the trade, economic and investment spheres.
